Combating Transference

A HYPNO-MEDITATION FOR CURRENT AND PAST STUDENTS OF CAAHM KINESIOLOGY ACADEMY

As a kinesiologist, your work is deeply therapeutic and you often connect with your clients on both a physical and emotional level. However, this connection can sometimes lead to a phenomenon known as transference.

Transference is a natural part of any therapeutic relationship. It occurs when clients unconsciously transfer feelings or emotions they’ve experienced in past relationships onto you, the therapist. In many cases, this can be beneficial. It allows clients to build trust, open up and address their emotional challenges. They may feel seen, heard and supported through the therapeutic process.

Yet, while transference can strengthen the therapeutic bond, it is important to ensure that these emotions remain in the room, with your client and are not absorbed by you. As the practitioner, you must remain present, compassionate and empathetic while protecting your own energy. The emotions and struggles that your clients bring are part of their healing journey, not yours.

If left unchecked, transference can lead to feelings of exhaustion, burnout, or emotional overwhelm. You may start carrying the weight of your client’s problems, which can affect both your personal well-being and your ability to provide effective care. That’s why it’s crucial to establish clear boundaries—allowing you to guide and support your clients without becoming emotionally entangled in their experiences.

This hypno-meditation is designed to help you release any emotional energy that doesn’t belong to you and strengthen the mental and emotional boundaries necessary for providing the best possible care. Through regular use, you’ll train your mind to remain centred, grounded and energetically protected, ensuring that you can continue to offer your clients the compassion and guidance they need without compromising your own well-being.
